R&D Scientist (Nanoparticle synthesis)
This is an opportunity to join our team in Uppsala, to develop novel technology and products using your material science skills
We are looking for an R&D Scientist to join our team. You should have experience from metal nanoparticle synthesis and surface modifications. Experience of working with microfluidics, microfluidic reactors, ink formulations or photovoltaics is considered advantageous.
You have a solid understanding of materials science, and ample experience of applying your analytical abilities when designing experiments and assessing data.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced RnD Scientist with a passion for plasmonics to make a real impact on the development of transparent solar cells!
About the Company
Peafowl Plasmonics is an innovative technology startup company that manufactures transparent solar cells to provide the next generation of IoT devices. The solar cells are suitable for making energy-efficient units self-sufficient, such as indoor sensors, displays, and wearables. Peafowl Solar Cell is the first direct plasmonic solar cell that converts light into electricity using plasmonic nanoparticles.
Plasmonic nanoparticles can absorb up to ten times more light than other known materials. Because Peafowl Solar Cell is so efficient at converting the light it intercepts into electricity, it can produce electricity even when very little light is captured. This is the key to the cell's ultra-high transparency.
Peafowl Plasmonics is active in the global market. With a strong team spirit and high productivity, they have created a safe and dynamic work environment. You will be part of a wonderful team with a great passion for making sustainable power solutions. The company has developed a pleasant environment adapted to each person's conditions, regardless of whether it concerns opportunities for travel, learning, training, or family life.
Tasks:
- Develop new generation of Peafowl photovoltaics
- Perform, analyze and improve methods for depositing metal nanoparticles on thin films as well as metal nanoparticle syntheses
- Tuning of material surface interactions using surfactants
- Utilize and develop microfluidic reactor systems for nanoparticle generation
- Identify faults and possible improvements to the current Peafowl photovoltaic devices
- Establish and adhere to routines for fast-screening of new materials, documenting laboratory work
Must haves:
- At least MSc in material science, chemistry or equivalent
- Experience from metal nanoparticle synthesis, adaption and utilization
- Three years hands-on lab working experience (preferably industry)
- Extensive knowledge on material characterization
- Familiarity with laboratory health and safety standards
- Excellent communication in English (oral and written)
It is advantageous if you also have:
- Experience from thin-film deposition, especially wet chemical methods
